Calls warned residents to take safety precautions
STERLING — Phone calls from the Sterling Police Department made for a rude awakening Sunday night for many area residents. As they listened to a recorded message informing them that inmate Douglas J. Alward had escaped from Sterling Correctional Facility, they began to worry.
