This is not a precision mouse such as the kind gamers like. But, for your everyday mousing needs (e-mail, word processing, etc.), this one is a great deal. I was motivated by price and the need to go simple and wired after having problems with a wireless mouse transmitter that fell apart.
It installed itself quickly and easily on my Vista system. No muss, no fuss.
A mouse pad is recommended.
********UPDATE. This mouse died six months after this review was written and after it caused my computer to crash while unplugging if from the USB. I bought another model from a different manufacturer.*********

Unit is good for the price. However, it doesn’t work well unless you use a mouse pad. Even with the mouse stationary, you will see slight movement of the cursor on the screen. Useable though….

I started not to order this after reading the “lasted 3 months” review, but figured I would give it a shot for 5 bucks. After a month and a half of weekly laptop use Windows fails to recognize the device (on two different PCs). That adds up to about 6 uses.
If you decide to give it a shot, you should be aware that this is not a full-size mouse. It’s just about right for traveling with a laptop, but not so small it is difficult to use–at least until it stops working!

It’s such a nice size but after just 3 days it has started to move all by itself. Interesting to watch but rather useless as a pointer. Often get the wrong item clicked.

That’s what I get for going off brand. After using this mouse for about three months, it would occasionally “lose power” and stop working. I would be able to unplug it and plug it in and use it for a few seconds and then it would die again.
If you’re shopping for a mouse, don’t try to save a few bucks by going off brand like I did. Spend the extra $5 and get a Microsoft or Logitech mouse. I’m still using the same $10 Logitech USB mouse that I got from Wal-Mart 7 years ago. If you want to save money in the long run, get a real mouse.
